I am by training a bioarchaeologist, starting with archaeology at Durham (BA 1996), then a more anatomically-based study for my M.Sc. at Liverpool Medical School (1998), combining the two approaches in my Ph.D. at University College London (2003).
I have taught and researched at the University of London (Birkbeck) and the University of Winchester, and have been attached to the Universities of Brussels (ULB) and Witwatersrand (RSA).
I specialise in human anatomy and bioarchaeology, with publication emphases reflecting my fieldwork in Peru and Egypt. I have also worked in historical and modern forensics.
